Our Minister

Brother Leo G. Gay was born in Ida, Louisiana, on February 4, 1952, to Minnie Mae Gay. Minnie was killed when he was 9 years old and his grandmother (Minnie's mom) took him and his four younger siblings and raised them with her three children, as a single parent, until they all reached adulthood.

He was baptized in June 1964, in Vivian, Louisiana, by Brother R.P. Moore. Brother Gay has been a member of the church for 55 years.

After graduating from North Caddo High School in Vivian, Louisiana, in 1970, Brother Gay worked for two years; one at a Steel Galvanizing Plant and one at a Cyclone Fence Company before joining the United States Air Force. He served 27 years before retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant, in the position of Command Chief, Air Warfare Center, Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada.

Sister Gay (Glenda Faye Washington) was his childhood sweetheart since the fourth grade. She was also baptized in Vivian, Louisiana a few years later. He married Sister Gay in 1971 and they have two sons, Gregory Derrell and Cedric Duane Gay. A few added pleasantries in their life has made them grandparents of four beautiful grandchildren; Joslyn, Azana, Adam and Ava.

Brother Gay became the full time Minister of the North Las Vegas congregation in July, 2004 upon Brother Robert Hunter's retirement, endeavoring to serve with humility and steadfastness in the faith.
