“Easter Sunday (Every Sunday)”

Categories: from the minister's desk

“This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psa.118:24 Today is the Lord’s Day above all else. Today is the day Jesus rose from the grave, to become our Passover. “Purge out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you are unleavened. 1Cor.5:7-8 (The old leaven is the old teachings and lifestyles before coming to Christ, including keeping a Passover feast once a year. The position of Christians is analogous to that of Israel, and they should put away the evil and purge out the leaven of sin that is among them that they may be a pure unleavened lump of holiness.) For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us.” (Eating unleavened bread and spreading blood over our door post has no value to us today. Only the blood that Christ shed has forgiveness and saving power. He shed His blood and died in our place.) This is a day of remembrance of all Christ did and taught. “Therefore, let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness: but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.” (It’s not about us eating a meal at Easter dinner, but we must keep the feast perpetually. That is, live holily. The whole life of the Christian should be a joyous and pure feast of services to God in sincerity and truth, none of the old leaven of heathenism being retained in the body, the church. To us, Christ is a perpetual sacrifice, an ever-present paschal Lamb, demanding and enforcing constant vigilance and unceasing cleanliness. 2Cor.4:16… The individual must put away every sinful habit of the old life. The church must purge itself of all whose lives are sources of corruption. That’s a “social distancing order” from God that many refuse to keep or choose to ignore. Thus, sin persists in the person, their homes and in the Church. 1Cor.5:9-13… This is an order that most Christians fail to obey.

Do you remember what day you were delivered from the bondage of sin? ___________________

How are you doing both physically and spiritually this morning? __________________________

Did you thank the Lord for waking you up? ___________________________________________

How do you plan to worship Him today? _____________________________________________

You do know that you can call on Him, pray, read his word, talk about him to family, friends, and neighbors. Many will be at a loss because their traditional way of coming before God in a crowd has been restricted. Now is a great time to understand and implement what Jesus said, “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the midst of them.” Mt.18:20 This was never meant for anyone to use to avoid being assembled together in worship, but to understand that no man or circumstance can prevent His followers from being in His presence.

How often do you feel His presence? ______________________________________________________________________

If you were not restricted from assembling at the building today, would you have gone? _______

Why or why not? ___________________________________________________________________
