“Are You Prepared To Meet Jesus?”

Categories: from the minister's desk

If the Lord returned today, would you go back with Him or will you be left behind? Have you prepared yourself to be in eternity with Him? Are you seeking to make your calling and election sure? What is your understanding of the Church and why you must be a member to be saved? How much time do you think you really have before your life ends? Will you accept the Savior’s invitation to come to Him, obey Him and be saved? If you will accept the Word of God as truth, here are a few scriptural references to consider to ‘prepare yourself to meet Jesus.’

It is clear that “Not everyone that says Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven.” Mt.7:21-23 Are you doing the will of God?

If you are not in the Church, the body of Christ you cannot be saved. But even those in the Church must be doing the will of God, because “The Son of man (Christ Jesus) shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them that do iniquity; and shall cast them into a furnace of fire:…” Mt.13:41-42 Are you doing the will of God?

There is a grave danger in thinking you have time to prepare later. “Beware brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we have become partakers of Christ IF we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, while it is said; “Today,” if you will hear my voice, harden not your hearts…” Heb.3:12-15 We are told in scripture to “Redeem the time for the days are evil.” Eph.5:16 Are you prepared to meet Jesus?

You must know that preparation includes hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ. “That Jesus suffered, hung on the cross, bleed, died and rose again on the third day, ascended back into heaven and is now sitting on the right hand of God, interceding for you and I.” Have you heard the good news about Jesus and what He has done for you? Now you can prepare to meet Him face to face and spend eternity with Him in Heaven.

You must believe this gospel in faith which results in your loving God for the gift of His only begotten Son to take your place in death. Loving and obeying Jesus as your Lord and Savior. “He that believes and is baptized shall be saved, but he that believes not shall be damned.” Mk.16-16 Are you prepared to meet Jesus?

You must repent of your past sins. You could never fully account for every sin you have committed, nor do you have to, but you trust that God will forgive you for all of them as He has promised. Repentance is a change of mind that results in a change of behavior. This change comes as a result of you renewing your mind with the word of God. “I tell you nay, except you repent, you shall all likewise perish.” Lk.13:5 Are you prepared to meet Jesus?

You must confess with your heart and mouth that Jesus is the Son of God. “He that confesses me before men, him will I confess before my Father which is in heaven, but he that deny me before men, him will I deny before my Father which is in heaven.” Mt.10:32-33 Are you prepared to meet Jesus?

Then you must be baptized in water for the forgiveness of all your past sins. You get a new beginning, born again in Christ. Baptism puts you in Christ, where salvation is and if you be faithful, even unto death, God promised to give you eternal life with Him in Heaven. Are you prepared to meet Jesus? If not, you can get prepared right now by giving your life to Christ as scripture commands.
